Moreau Lake
The former estate and summer home of wealthy New York City attorney George W. McAdam in the early 1900s, the grounds around Moreau Lake were ultimately acquired by the State of New York in the 1960s for the establishment of a state park. Since the official opening of the park in 1967, Moreau Lake has primarily been used for recreational activities, including boating, canoeing, kayaking and fishing. In addition, the lake also boasts one of the region’s most popular sandy beaches for swimming.
According to the website of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, yellow perch, brown bullhead, chain pickerel, pumpkinseed, and rainbow trout can all be caught in Moreau Lake.
